It’s not our job to say if they work here or there, but we do have a list of 10 very strange diets that actually do work.
Ever thought about eating eggs all day, every day? What about simply eating a banana in the morning and not feeling hungry the rest of the day? The Egg Diet
Is it true that you can lose weight by simply eating eggs? Years ago there were reports that a man lost over 60 pounds by simply eating nine eggs a day for 10 months. There are several egg diets floating around the Internet as of today with one popular recipe combining eggs with a piece of grilled chicken for lunch and a piece of small fish for dinner.
The Japanese Morning Banana Diet
The premise of this diet is pretty simple: in the morning for breakfast have a serving of raw bananas and a glass of room-temperature water. Apparently this method boosts the metabolism to the point where you can eat almost anything for lunch and dinner and still drop those extra pounds.
The Sleeping Beauty Diet
If you love to sleep for long hours during the night and to take several naps during the day, then this diet is just what the doctor ordered. The premise behind this diet is very simple: “if you are awake, you aren’t eating.” In order to lose weight on this diet, one must sleep for days at a time. But obviously this is a very unhealthy approach to losing weight but there have been some researchers who have supported it. According to these researchers, the amount of sleep combined with the quality of sleep helps affect our appetite.
The Hollywood Cookie Diet
It’s amazing what types of diets that come up with them Hollywood. The Hollywood Cookie Diet was once trendy and the premise was simple: when you got hungry during the day, simply eat one of these specially formulated cookies and for dinner have a meal consisting of 6 ounces of chicken, seafood or turkey. That means no breakfast or lunch during the day and when you have a craving simply pop one of these cookies in your mouth and presto… future weight loss.
The Lip Gloss Diet
You’ve all heard of that saying “a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.” With this diet for women claims the opposite: “always on the lips, never on the hips.” This diet features a lip gloss that when applied will help speed up a woman’s metabolism and increase her energy levels. A key ingredient in the lip gloss is SuperCitrimax which is a plant extract which supposedly dulls hunger pains and prevents the body from converting carbohydrates into fat.
The Bible Diet
According to the Bible Diet, certain foods are either clean or forbidden according to God. The foods that you can eat on this diet include organic fruits, vegetables and legumes. Based on a premise that God only once you to eat organic foods, you should stay away from processed foods or other foods which could have had contact with pesticides or fertilizers. The Bible Diet can also help slow down the aging process (allegedly).
The Beer and Sausage Diet
There is a story about a 44-year-old man from Arizona who only consumed high-quality sausage and drank high-quality beer for 30 days. The result? He lost 18 pounds. But for those of you who love sausage and all of a sudden getting very excited, there is a catch — the Arizona man limited his daily calorie intake to 1500. So even though it worked for him he was still not giving his body much-needed nutrients.
The Starbucks Diet
If you are overweight and you love going to Starbucks on a daily basis this might be the diet for you. Reports indicate that a librarian from Virginia lost 75 pounds over a two-year span by simply eating all of her meals at Starbucks. But there is a deeper truth to the story: she was only consuming 1000 calories per day. Considering the prices at Starbucks, that makes sense. So if you’re on a tight budget and you need to lose weight, simply head over to your nearest coffee shop, choose something you can afford off the menu (which won’t be much) and drop those unneeded pounds.
The Cabbage Soup Diet
If you follow this diet correctly, you should be able to lose 10 pounds in seven days. All you need to do is eat a bowl of cabbage soup filled with peppers, carrots, celery, green onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and (of course ) cabbage for breakfast lunch and dinner. Why does it work? It works because the liquid from the soup will help you stay full and the vegetables within the soup will give you your required daily nutrients.
The Bacteria Diet
According to reports, you can lose an average of 21 pounds in six months following this diet. The premise of this diet is to eat foods that help and assist the healthy bacteria in your digestive tract. The more good bacteria you have in your stomach, the less weight you’ll gain overall. What foods are best? Yogurt, kimchi and sauerkraut are three good ones to start.
